Legal Risks at Renewals
Breakfast Briefing
Monday 25th October 2010
The 2010 Baden Baden meeting is fast approaching and time is running out to secure your place at this year's Breakfast Briefing, 'Legal Risks at Renewals' hosted by The Review in association with law firm Clifford Chance.
Ensure you don't miss, insurance partners Nicholas Munday and Philip Hill speaking about the legal risks inherent in this year's renewals process.
We are delighted to present further details of the topics that will be discussed, please see below. These topics will be covered with particular focus on the practical issues in renewal wordings:
The (lack of) impact of the financial crisis on the insurance / reinsurance industry:
The global financial crisis has had a significant impact on banks, governments and advisers, but the insurance industry has so far escaped relatively unscathed. Our speakers will discuss whether the industry will manage to continue to avoid being affected by the crisis and if so, whether this arguably demonstrates the limit of the efficacy of insurance. They will also discuss whether this could point to areas of future product development.
A return to traditional losses:
Over the past year, the re/insurance industry has been facing more traditional losses, such as natural disasters and catastrophes. Our speakers will review the natural disasters over the past 12 months and in particular, their impact upon insurers. They will also discuss how cat bonds have been impacted.
Issues related to follow the settlements:
The speakers will cover new developments in case law and how reinsurers are behaving in practice. Several recent cases have interesting implications as to the wider philosophy of the nature of reinsurance, particularly in emerging markets.
Date: Monday 25th October 2010
Time: 7.30 a.m. breakfast, 8.00 a.m. briefing commences, finishing at 9.00 a.m.
